UNDER THE KŘENOVICE MAYPOLE
UNDER THE KRENOVICE MAYPOLE 30th May - 1st June 2008, Krenovice
This festival is part of smaller local and regional festivals. It was first held in 1985. These days the organizers try to invite two or three guests from the Czech Republic and Moravia and one from abroad to take part in the main programme. In 2007 the Under the Krenov Maypole Festival was combined with the Krenovicky Rakovec Folk Festival. The union of two distinct musical genres turned out to be a very interesting project which met with considerable approval.
This year the folk aspect of the festival will be dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the Krenovacek (Folk singing group for young children) and the 25th anniversary of the Krenovak (folk singing group for adults). Saturday afternoon will be aimed at children, the village promenade in traditional costume will start on Sunday at 14.00 hours, after that the main programme of events will continue in the open air amphitheatre.
Krenovice lies 20 km southeast from Brno.
