20th International Folklore Festival “Brno ´09“

The international folklore festival in the Moravian metropolis has been held since 1990. Every year its concerts present about a thousand performers from the Czech Republic and two hzndred from other parts of the world. The festival has a CIOFF and IOV statute. It was the cornerstone in the creation of Brno Folk Festivities. Another component of the festival is street theater, fencing, and similar attractions (see www.folklornet.cz/mff/).
Brno has a rich history. Tourists may visit the Špilberk Castle, St Peter and Paul´s Cathedral, the view tower of the Old Town Hall, the beautifully restored New Town Hall, the convent and church of St Eliška, Klein´s Noblewomen´s Palace, Reduta theater building, the historical building of the Brno National Theater, the Veveří Castle, the functionalist Tugendhat villa, Dietrichstein Palace, and others.
