11th “Consonance”, International Festival of Advent and Christmas Traditions, Carols, and Crafts
17 to 20 December 2009, Ostrava
The “Consonance” festival is an associate member of the prestigious worldwide organization CIOFF. It aims to treat the public during Advent to Christmas music, customs, carols, and rich folk traditions with displays of folk crafts. Its essential focus is on the interlinking of generations with performances by both adults and children, amateurs and professionals, and master folk craftsmen. Visitors will sample regional and foreign culinary specialities. The tasting of wine, beer, plum brandy, and other special regional drinks also enjoys great popularity (see www.souzneni-festival.cz).
The festival is held in Ostrava (www.ostrava.cz) and in the village of Kozlovice (www.kozlovice.cz). Ostrava, the metropolis of the Moravian-Silesian Region, offers many tourist and cultural attractions. Kozlovice lies at the foot of Ondřejník in the Beskydy mountain range on the road from Frýdek-Místek to Frenštát pod Radhoštěm.
