15th Socha´s Ethnographic Festivities
22 and 23 August, Lhotka pod Ondřejníkem
The several programs of this traditional festivity, renewed in 1995, present almost two dozen ensembles from the surroundings, but also guests from other parts of the North Moravian-Silesian region and often from Poland and Slovakia. A group that cannot be missing among the children´s and adult ensembles and dulcimer bands is the local Pilky, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2006. The program opens traditionally in the early afternoon with a gathering at the memorial plaque of Vincenc Socha, a collector of folk songs and dances from the surroundings of the Ondřejník hill. In additon to the variegated program, visitors may enjoy many specialities of the local cuisine. The program is followed by a folk-fest with singing and dancing to the accompaniment of the bands of the participating ensembles.
The village of Lhotka pod Ondřejníkem lies at the foot of the 890 m high Ondřejník hill in the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy mountain range. More information at www.folklornisdruzeni.cz.
