40th Folklore Festival “Silesian Days”
12 and 13 September 2009, Dolní Lomná
Silesian Days at Dolní Lomná are a folklore festival with a long-standing tradition. Its main organizer, the Matice Slezská society , has purposefully built an open-air complex for the event on beautiful spot at the confluence of two streams, with typical authentic log cabins. The program takes place on three stages. Saturday program begins in the afternoon with presentation of folklore ensembles. The evening is dedicated to popular merry-making and dancing. On Sunday the program begins with children´s ensembles. At noon there is a meeting at the Tree of Solidarity. In the afternoon a costumed parade of the participating ensembles marches through Dolní Lomná. The main program begins at 2 p.m. The festival includes a rich demonstration of handicrafts and gastronomy (see http://slezskedny.wz.cz/). The village of Dolní Lomná is situated 8 km from Jablunkov in the north-east of the Czech Republic, close to the Polish and Slovakian frontiers
