 9^th Folklore Festival “Seniors”

In the year 2000 someone had the idea to arrange a get-together of senior dancers and singers, often former members of folk ensembles. This gave rise to a new tradition of a unique festival, in which only elderly performers can participate. The festival takes place in the inspiring setting of the winemaking area Plže at Petrov. It usually features about ten folk groups as well as solo singers with musical accompaniment. The organizers also invite guests from Slovakia. Once the main program is finished, the dulcimer bands continue playing and everyone joins in singing and dancing.

The Petrov winemaking area, consisting of 80 traditional wine cellars, has been listed as a national heritage site. A pull-up situated at the entrance to the precinct is a good place to eat. Accomodation can be found in Strážnice, just 3 km from Petrov. You can also get to Petrov by boat up the Baťa canal, a renewed technical monument.
