Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, a small town situated about 40 km south of Ostrava, offers year-round opportunities for leisure and sport, especially hiking, mountain-biking, and skiing. From Frenštát it is not far to Pustevny, a spot on the Radhošť mountain ridge, well-known for the mountain hotel and restaurant Libušín and Maměnka built after a project by the Slovak architect Dušan Jurkovič, with interior decorations designed by the famous Czech painter Mikoláš Aleš. On the top of Radhošť you can admire a statue of the pagan god Radegast and a sculpture of the Christian missioners St Cyril and St Methodius.
