The Klatovy folklore festival boasts a rich program with international participation. The festival program is especially lavish on Saturday, including a gala show in the Klatovy chateau and a nocturne in the town square. The Sunday farewell focuses on children= s ensembles.
Klatovy was originally a small village on an old trade route from Bavaria to Bohemia. Aroud 1260 it was raised to the statute of royal town by King Přemysl Otakar II. In the middle of the 18th century Klatovy became regional capital city. Among the most important monuments we should mention the Black Tower from the 16th century, the Jesuit church of Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary and Saint Ignatius, the Jesuit College, and the baroque pharmacy At the White Unicorn.
