18th International Festival of Children´s Ensembles “Štěpy“ (“Scions“)
4 to 7 June 2009, Veselí nad Moravou
The festival was founded with the aim to provide more performing opportunities for children´s folk ensembles. Staged on the beautiful grounds of the chateau park, the festival program is moderated by both real and fictitious characters linked to the history and folklore of the Veselí area, such as a water sprite or a hobgoblin. The event opens on Friday with a program for schoolchildren and an evening party in the local cultural center. Saturday belongs to street performances and a review of child singers. Finally, Sunday is the day of the festive parade of the participating groups, which passes through the town to the chateau park where the main festival program takes place.

Veselí nad Moravou is located in south Moravia, 16 km from Uherské Hradiště. Among the places to visit in the town we would particularly recommend the quay of the historical Baťa canal (a technical monument), the chateau park, and the church of Holy Guardian Angels. A nice nocturnal passtime would be a visit to the local astronomical observatory.
