15th Frýdek-Místek CIOFF International Folklore Festival
16 to 22 June, 2009
This six-day festival, held at the turn of spring and summer in the town of Frýdek-Místek and its surroundings, is a review festival intended for all age groups of enthusiatic musicians, singers, and dancers of folk ensembles from Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, and abroad. It aims to show the variety of folk art from different parts of the world, the beauty of the traditional costume, and the performers´ skills. Since 1992??? its organization has been entrusted to the children´s folk ensemble Ostravička.

The twin towns of Frýdek and Místek lie on opposing banks of the Ostravice river, in the lovely region of the Beskydy mountain range, which spreads over the north-west corner of the Czech Republic. With over 60,000 inhabitants, Frýdek-Místek is developing into a modern town with ample opportunities for cultural and sports activities.
