4^th International Folklore Festival “The Bohemian Village Green - Dýšina”

 28 to 30 August 2009, Dýšina 

The festival builds on a rich tradition of folk festivities, music and dancing at the pub, may-pole celebrations, and carnivals. Its dramaturgy exploits the unique environment of a small village: sitting and chatting under the lime-trees, the dooryards of baroque homesteads, or the atmosphere of St Simon and Judas´ church. The Village Green also affords enough space for other genres rooted in folk music. The Výšina festival The Bohemian Village Green provides an alternative to the large-scope town festivals of southwestern Bohemia. We seek to represent traditional folk culture in an environment that is truly its own, in a broad specter of colors, moods, styles, and staging means, aiming to draw the attention of a demanding and knowing spectator as well as of a listener who chances to pass by. Come, stay with us on our Green. Accept a cordial invitation from your Výšina hosts. Take the opportunity to experience the sound vigor of tradition in the life of us all. The village of Dýšina lies 10 km northeast of Plzeň (Pilsen).
