10th Folklore Festival “Frenštát Festivities”

28 nad 29 August 2009, Frenštát pod Radhoštěm

The Folklore Festival with international participation called Frenštát Festivities brings together ensembles from the whole of the Czech Republic and invariably two to four foreign groups. It is usually inaugurated on Friday afternoon with children´s ensembles and musical groups, and with groups from abroad. A permanent component fo the program is a presentation of child singers of folk songs and performances by children´s folk groups. The festivities end on Saturday in Frenštát square with a massive entertainment called An Evening with Friends, in which the whole square ends up dancing.

The town of Frenštát pod Radhoštěm lies in the picturesque landscape of the Moravian Beskydy mountain range. The tourist attractions include its square with the town hall and burghers´ houses, St John the Baptist´s church (1634), St Martin´s church, or St Forian´s stutue (1773). Those interested in the history of the town should visit Frenštát museum (see ). In summer visitors can refresh themselves in a modern aquapark.
