3^rd Folklore Festival of the Czech Diaspora

24 to 27 September 2009, Prague

This festival is held in cooperation with the Permanent Commission of the Czech Senate for Czechs living abroad. Detailed information is available at the web site of Sedm paprsků (Seven Rays), a civic association in charge of the organization of the event (see www.sevenrays.cz). The festival will be inaugurated in the Knights´ Hall of the Senate (Wallenstein Palace), while the performances of the participating ensembles will take place in the Martinitz Palace in Hradčany square. It will be closed on Sunday by a costumed parade around Hradčany square and proclamation of the best ensembles. The festival includes projection of documentary films about the life of Czechs abroad and an exhibition of chronicles and photographs showing the life of the first Czech emigrees. The organizers have also prepared an additional cultural program for the participants, including Prague sightseeing.
