Traditional festival structure and program

Since the beginning is the festival structured into 4 days, starts on Thursday early evening with attractive foreign guests and the hosts are either ensemble Jasenka or Vsacan, both from Vsetin. Foreign and Czech ensembles are performing in separate program parts. The centerpiece is final gala performance of all ensembles which takes place on Sunday.

Big change in dramaturgy was introduced during the third festival year. The program was extended by partial performances on chamber stage on Dolni namesti and it was appreciated by the audience as well as change in form of the folk’s celebration. Instead of one big celebration on central stage, the foreign and Czech ensembles and musics are performing in numerous locations in the city center (usually in garden restaurants and pubs).

Unique part of the festival is Saturday morning program Vsetin kracek, where you can see local children’s and usually two other ensembles from different part of Valassko or other regions of the Czech Republic. Part of the program is also Grand Prix of town Vsetin - memorial of Dusan Ruzicka - a competition of the best dancer in men’s' solo dance Odzemek, where you can see as guests „crimps“ from various parts of Moravske Slovacko.

Original part of festival is a concert foreign musics, where the cembalo ensembles Jasenka and Vsacan are the hosts. These concerts are being recorded and all participants get the CD as an interesting present. The same CD is being used in between festivals for presentation of town Vsetin and its social and cultural activities.

Festival takes place on free stages (Svarov – the main stage, Dolni namesti and Sokol house area), on the town stress and for the final defile and for next years the organizers are considering using the stage in the towns‘park.
