Ethnographic Festival of the Kyjov Dolňácko area
27th Ethnographic Festival of the Kyjov Dolňácko area
7 to 9 August 2009, Milotice
The festival takes place in the wine cellar complex Šidleny, in the gardens and courtyard of the state chateau, and on the village green, which is traversed by hundreds of costumed participants in a traditional parade. Besides a number of stage performances, the event offers displays of artisans´ work, thematic exhibits, concerts of religious music, and other attractions. The participants are mainly ensembles of folk music, dancing, and singing from the whole Dolňácko ethnographic area. The festival aims to preserve and present folklore inits original beauty and purity of style. Come sample the wine from the vineyards surrounding the festival grounds and meet nice people. Besides the baroque chateau you may also visit the All Saints´ church and the nature reserves Písečný rybník (Sandy Pond) and Horky with protected prairie flora.
